SIIG's USB 3.0 to 2.5" SATA HDD/SSD Mini Docking is designed to quickly add more storage space to your USB-enabled PC (USB 3.0 recommended). It delivers SuperSpeed USB 3.0 5Gb/s data transfer rate, supports up to 3TB hard disk capacity and works with 2.5" 12.5mm thick SATA hard disk drives (HDDs) or solid-state drives (SSDs). This mini docking is easy to setup, with the simple tool-less design that no driver installation is required. Also, it is compact and draws low power consumption with no power adapter is needed.The USB 3.0 to 2.5" SATA HDD/SSD Mini Docking is compliant with Serial ATA Specification, SuperSpeed USB 3.0 and backwards compatible with USB 2.0 specification. I tested the speeds of this with a , crucial m4 128gb SSD and got
160/Mbs write and 200/Mbs read, via usb 3. In comparison my internal spinning 5400rpm hard drive got 90/Mbs write and 90/Mbs read. I use this with my late 2012 mac mini apple brand computer no problems, no software needed. I installed my copy of Mountain Lion OSX on my SSD inserted into this adapter and I run my OSX on the external SSD via usb 3 instead of the internal 5400 internal hard drive in my mac mini. I like the power button on this adapter and I like how I can hook up an extra power usb if needed to power the 2.5 in SATA drive inserted into this device. I like the that this device has a power indicator led and a drive activity indicator led. The build quality seem's solid.
